Revision as of 06:33, 28 August 2008

I hadn't done a REDIRECT yet from Stew to Turnip, since the Classic tab says nothing about Stew, and we have no convention for handling that situation.

I was thinking about something like

For more information about stew, see the Tip - Standard or Tip - Just for Fun tabs.

above the tabs, but then it would also show up for both TiP tabs, which wouldn't be appropriate. Alternately redirecting it to the Transformation article would yield the same situation. Should we rely on the user to know to navigate to the TiP tabs, or is there a better solution? --FeralKitty (talk) 12:48, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

We could consider bringing {{link}} back, but only for situations like this, and/or make it a soft redirect. –xenocidic (talk) 12:53, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Since the article would be tabbed, it would provide enough context to the reader, that they should know what to do.
I'm not keen on bringing a family of link templates back just for some transformed-produce articles. (The initial one-template-does-all problems hadn't been solved for heavy use, and I don't think an arbitrary "produce-only" convention would stop the switched version from creeping into heavier-traffic articles. Also, I suspect the use of external links might break the usefulness of "What links here.") In the spirit of "Keeping it simple," it also avoids having to answer the "If you do it there, why don't you do it here?" requests.
Given the context that the Stew article would provide, it should be fine to simply link to Turnip. --FeralKitty (talk) 13:21, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
In terms of the soft redirect I was thinking along the lines of something like this:
Stew is an item that can be produced in Trouble in Paradise (and...) using turnips.

This page is a soft redirect.

how's that? –xenocidic (talk) 13:33, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
