Questions

For the game and platform, the "All" and "Several" seem like you're not actually capturing file information, but qualifying information, instead, as to what games or platforms the image could apply to? Technically, an image comes from only one game and one platform (i.e. it was taken from Viva Pinata for Games for Windows). The fact that it could pass as a Viva Pinata for Xbox 360 image, or a Trouble in Paradise for Xbox 360 image, is incidental, and not related to the image details.

I think that if you're also trying to qualify what this image could apply to, such as for categorization, that there are issues with "All" and "Several." They don't tell you specific information. A delimited string might make more sense (e.g. "Classic, Trouble in Paradise") and you can search for either term and get a hit. Whether you use checkboxes or a multi-choice drop-down list for the form, I still think it happens to mix apples and oranges here, between "image is from" and "image is applicable to" and I don't think the two distinctions should be overloaded into one set of fields.

Also, qualifiers like "All" drastically break, when new choices are added to the list. Suddenly, "All" is no longer true for older "file information," when a future game or platform is added, that the image couldn't have applied to.

Again, with the type, if the selection is exclusive, does it handle all cases? You could have a wildcard image, a variant image, or an image of a varianted wildcard.

The last issue that comes to mind is the PV type. ISn't this is an boolean that's independent of whatever object (e.g. species, house, or vegetable) that you've captured? You could have a species picture, and a species PV card, so the PV flag might be better tracked in its own field, I'd think. --FeralKitty (talk) 01:44, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Excellent points, especially the last one. I will do my best to come up with a solution to all of the above. Perhaps "applies to" isn't quite necessary, and you're right, this is what I was trying to get at with the "All" "Several" values. –xenocidic (talk) 02:20, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
If you take a look at the User talk:FeralKitty/Reorg#Image naming conventions, it might help you out. We did the boolean there by existence or absence of "-PV" at the end of the filename. Since the impression I got was that you wanted the images to be searchable, I'm not sure if it would be difficult or not to find PV images by searching for "yes." --FeralKitty (talk) 02:59, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Well my true sinister motive ;> was that eventually we might agree to categorize images, as we already categorize Pinata Vision images. This code will do the trick for that, by the way. –xenocidic (talk) 03:08, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
