Nuvola apps knotes.png To-do list for Category:Species: edit · history · watch · refresh
  • Fill in missing Infobox data for each species, as discovered
  • Make corrections for Variant (species colors?), Evolve, and Rarity
  • Add a couple paragraphs (linked) text on Category page, touching on general species concepts like:
    • a pinata's value, how it can increase by wearing accessories
    • trading and selling pinatas
    • species development; creating new species

I'll bet nobody's ever asked this before, but which Pinata Species is your favorite? I like Macaraccoon, Pretztail and Fizzlybear. -MiaRe123

There is a lot of great discussion taking place at the Viva Pinata Forum, so you may want to join there if you haven't already. --Jimmcq 15:11, 4 September 2006 (EDT)

I'm thinking about adding an eagle species, but since there was some that thought that it was a seagull should I wait? -Spartan

I haven't gotten a chance to watch that video yet, so I don't really have an opinion on which one it is yet... Maybe add it to the Unknown page for now? --Jimmcq 18:23, 23 September 2006 (EDT)

When you get a chance to watch it, check out the right side at 2:00 to see what appears to be a lion walking by :) --FeralKitty 18:33, 23 September 2006 (EDT)

I don't think that I should be the one who is in progress of writing the pinata bios. It's not that I don't won't to but I want others to feel welcomed to contribute. It's not like the episode things where only I should write those because the story is the same and they should all follow one writing style. People may find or have different impressions of each pinata. --Spartan 19:21, 26 October 2006 (EDT)

Regarding variants, a grammatically correct sentence would be an improvement. Currently, using "...changes its color to a color species" is saying that you're changing the color to a color that is named after the species. Writing "Doing this changes it to this color or pattern would make more sense; alternatively, "Doing this changes the species to this color or pattern. --Photon Turtle

FYI, Misral93 wasn't responsible for the grammar, and was just using what we'd been consistently entering. This suggestion is better off on the Category talk:Species discussion page, and I'm moving it.

Would "Feeding it a turnip changes its color to purple" be a specific example of what you would prefer it to say? --FeralKitty 00:27, 12 November 2006 (EST)

I think that example works well. The content is all great so far, it would be a shame to see it marred by poor writing. Since this is the premier Viva Pinata information site on the Interet at the moment (and I can't imagine that changing), contributors should remember that people with varying English comprehension skills will use it to help them accomplish their in-game goals. This doesn't mean that articles should be written in very basic English, rather they should be written in such a way as to limit mis-interpretation. --PhotonTurtle

Has the Penguin pinata been comfirmed? Mistral 01:40, 13 November 2006 (EST)

Nope. (See Talk:Penguin.) --FeralKitty 01:52, 13 November 2006 (EST)

68

The number 68 came from one of the interviews with Viva Pinata designer Gregg Mayles... but pretty much everything else has stuck to 60+.

So, how many species are there in total? Does the 68 include the 60 we currently have listed plus the 8 sour species? Or are they including the 8 color variants of the White Flutterscotch (since they have different species names)? Or something else entirely?

Do you think there are more than the 60 we know about?

--Jimmcq 19:33, 16 November 2006 (EST)

As it turns out, the number 68 includes the 8 sour versions. --Jimmcq 23:20, 20 November 2006 (EST)

add another sub-category

Just a suggestion, but why don't we make another sub-category for the pinatas by mammals, insects, birds, reptiles, and mystical animals. ((Dragonache and Chewnicorn,))--Sinper-409 17:32, 18 November 2006 (EST)

What the heck happened to the Alphabetical order of the species? I tried to edit it and fix it, but not sure where it's pulling the info from... Just FYI... --Wismac 18:38, 27 November 2006 (EST)
