Would it make sense to turn this into a category as a subcategory of the Species category? Then things like the Candary would go into the Variant subcategory rather than the Species main category. Would that make things more organized? or just more confusing? --Jimmcq 11:52, 6 November 2006 (EST)

If you want to add a table to this page keep it species generic, like a Turnip usually turns things purple, Bluebell -> Blue,  etc. Keep the species specific info on each species individual page.  --Jimmcq 14:13, 15 November 2006 (EST)

I was thinking about that earlier this morning.  It probably makes sense to separate them, since one is attracted, and the other is apparently created and apparently isn't wild.  (No guarantee there, though.  Suppose you create a Candary.  What if its Resident requirements are unique, and you don't have what it needs to choose to make its home in your garden?  Will it fly off into the wild?  Also can Gretchen Fetchum go out and find you more Candaries, if you trade/sell your existing ones and you have no Sparrowmints either?  Lots of questions remain, for me.)

Excellent suggestion, and low-maintenance :I like it :)  --FeralKitty 14:16, 15 November 2006 (EST)

Another factor for the split is that we're talking about 68 species + 204 variants. 272 articles would be a long list for the Species category, and it would probably make it more organized to just see the Species separately, as they're the initial focus.  How do you feel about a week's discussion to get more feedback, and also give us time to discover some answers in-game about the variants and how much they share in common, if anything?

As for existing categories, the only common category they'd share would be Nocturnal, which would end up with Species and Variants together, but I don't see a problem mixing them there.

(Of course, we'd need to edit the template to remove the auto-included Category:Species tag and edit in the relevant category.)  --FeralKitty 12:35, 6 November 2006 (EST)

I think these answers will be come more clear as we get a chance to play the game for a while.  --Jimmcq 12:40, 6 November 2006 (EST)
