Template talk:Tl
From PinataIsland.info, the Viva Piñata wiki
There's some other great template linking templates available from Wikipedia,
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Tlx - links the template and shows the paramaters
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Tls - links the template but shows the subst: prefix
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Tlsx - links the template but shows the subst: prefix and paramaters
Let me know if you think these would be useful to bringing over here. I've found myself wanting - imo, they're quite useful in talk page discussions and documentation. –xenocidic (talk) 15:24, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- The more stuff we bring over, the more stuff we have to maintain. {{this}} is dependent on {{that}} and before you know it, you've got a ton of templates that come over.
- When I wanted to document templates, I looked at how Wikipedia did it. Since their doc code depended on other code which depended on other code, and I'd have to move over about 15 things, I didn't want to introduce all that here, merely to "conveniently automate" a doc heading. I do it by hand, it takes 5 seconds.
- Before {{tl}} got here, we did perfectly fine with nowiki markup. {{tl}} is a convenience, but not something that's essential. I just think we've got enough real work that needs to be done, and I really want to minimize the ns bloat. I'm really trying to clean things up, and get rid of stuff, not make us more template-dependent. A year from now, I just don't think we should have 300+ "utilities" in there that have nothing to do with the actual articles and purpose of the site. --FeralKitty (talk) 16:08, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- No worries. P.S. Feel free to delete Template:=, I created it to try and solve the link-to-tabs. Not sure if we'll need it. –xenocidic (talk) 16:13, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
