Moving (renaming) articles
The proper way to move (rename) an article (which preserves its history and discussion) is to use the move tab. This also automatically handles the redirect for you.
When you cut and paste article content into a new article, the connection to its editing history or talk discussion is lost. I'll fix things up to restore the history. --FeralKitty 13:25, 4 August 2007 (EDT)
