Talk:Apple tree

My only concern at this point is repeating "How to grow it" tips on every tree page. I think it would be a lot of additional work to keep X number of pages up to date with similar information. --FeralKitty 18:28, 12 November 2006 (EST)

It would be very redundant if every tree grew the same. But I don't think they do. I grew a monkeynut tree and only had to fertilize it once at the beginning to get the full growth boost. The gooseberry bush seems to take fertilizer at intervals as well, but has different cues than the apple tree. Also, having the information on each special case makes more sense than a massive fertilizer page with ALL the information. Perhaps the very basic catalyzing info should be in a basic gardening page, or something similar. Or maybe basic and advanced catalyzing pages? That would cut down on text in the Apple Tree page. --Pure 19:03, 12 November 2006 (EST)

Base Value of 0

The Encyclopedia lists a Base Value of 0 for the apple tree. Extrapolating a "base value" from the sell price wasn't possible (as the result was an odd, fractional number, based on the other trees' Sell/BV ratios). --FeralKitty 17:28, 29 November 2006 (EST)

Heh. After I started working on the next tree, I noticed that the price for a banana was the same as the tree's base value. Checking other trees showed the same result. So, I propose setting the "base value" to 100 (price of an apple). --FeralKitty 17:41, 29 November 2006 (EST)

That seems right, beacuse if there is more that one fruit in the tree it will be worth more. So the bass value should be set at the value of a single fruit. --The Claw 17:51, 29 November 2006 (EST)

We need a 'uniform' base value... it seems to change with age and amount of growth. Did you check a newly planted tree? A fully catalyzed tree? Did it grow any fruit yet? Is it an old tree that has died off? --Jimmcq 18:20, 29 November 2006 (EST)

The Encyclopedia's Base Value data is a fixed value, since it doesn't refer to any one tree (unlike the Information page), and it's what I've been using for Infobox data. When I was speaking of 'the tree's base value', I was referring to the Encyclopedia data, not a specific tree. When I was trying to determine the Apple Tree BV earlier, the different species of trees I planted earlier today were newly grown, unfertilized, and had no fruit. Anyway, the prices in the shop for an individiual item of produce seem to be the same as the Encyclopedia's BV for the tree that produces it, so I'm assuming the Apple Tree BV is 100. --FeralKitty 21:48, 29 November 2006 (EST)

Combined common tricks pinatas?

Is it better to keep each of the pinatas trick triggers on separate lines?

  • Eating 1 toffee apple helps meet the Ponocky Trick requirements.
  • Eating 1 toffee apple helps meet the Pudgeon Trick requirements.
  • Eating 1 toffee apple helps meet the Raisant Trick requirements.

Or combine them as we do with variants?

Only problem with that is 2 of the above three is trick 2 and the other is trick 1. --ImaTestWentBad 01:13, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

It's fine to combine similar requirements (using "or"). Since we don't distinguish which trick it is on the plant page, that's not a problem. --FeralKitty (talk) 02:37, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
