Candy

What would piñatas be without candy? Each species has their own distinct candy fillings themed after the animal. For example, the Buzzlegum’s candy is bubblegum. Piñatas love eating candy. Visiting piñatas want to eat other piñatas' candy as part of the food chain. They'll break a pinata open and snarf down its candy. (You can also break open a pinata with your shovel.) The broken piñata then reforms and leaves your garden because it doesn’t have any candy left. Candy from a broken pinata can be sold for currency. There are also the bad piñatas -- sours -- and they’re full of bad candy... you don't want your piñata to eat that candy.

There are five types of special candy: Happy candy, Joy candy, Life Essence candy, Romance candy, and Sour candy.

Happy candy

This candy, which can be bought at Costolot's, makes your pinata happy, which causes them to be more willing to do what you tell them to. They also can gain a overjoyed bonus if they are totally happy, and won't pick fights when overjoyed.

Joy candy

Joy candy can be bought at Ivor Bargain's Store. This candy is worth it if you have the shop open. This candy maximizes the happiness of any pinata that eat it, automatically giving it an overjoyed bonus. It will not eat the Joy candy if it is more than half way sad.

Life Essence candy

Each pinata has one very special piece of candy inside, that brings that species alive! Eating this Life Essence candy helps meet other visiting pinatas' Residence requirements.

Romance candy

Romance candy can be bought at Costalot's Store. This candy causes your pinata to be ready to romance again, without meeting their romance requirements (other than a house to dance in). But there's a catch... You can only feed a pinata romance candy if you have romanced that species once before, otherwise they eat it with no effect. Also eating the candy does not skip the mini-game, so you still have to navigate the maze.

Sour candy

Sour candy is dropped by the Ruffians and sour pinatas. An unhappy beep sounds when it is dropped, so you will know it is in your garden before you even see it. This red and black candy makes your pinata sick. When you hear the sound, find the candy and just whack it with your shovel to break it.

If your pinata does get sick you better call in the doctor before Dastardos smashes it to bits.
