Very nice write up, Spartan! That would make a great introduction to the Whirlm! --Jimmcq 02:39, 6 December 2006 (EST)

Oh my God... the page I just wrote on the talk page... was lost. Sigh, I'll be back tomorrow. Just know that I put this here not because of the Whirlm intro, but how this format would be applied to the rest of the species pages and I put it here to be critqued and improved. It's subject to change. All the questions I wrote on how I could be helped are gone so just tell me how to improve until tomorrow. And move this if nesscary. G'night! --Spartan 02:48, 6 December 2006 (EST)

So do I need any improvements? My goal wasn't to rehash what was on the page but to talk about each particular species but to describe it's behaviors and summarize what was on the page a bit. Should I summarize more or less? As I write more I will get better. I'll start writing these in a week. --Spartan 19:19, 6 December 2006 (EST)

I've cleaned it up a little bit, but overall I think you've got a good format! --Jimmcq 19:39, 6 December 2006 (EST)

All right, if nobody has anything else to add I'm going to copy and paste this page tomorrow. Please don't move this before then and add anything else. Also, Jim I'll be starting on some of the basic pinatas tomorrow.

Challenge layouts

We should avoid frames. Remember that "half the page" is relative, since visitors may use anything from low-res handhelds to high-res widescreen monitors. I like the second one slightly better, because it's more compact, and just seems easier to read. How about trying some of the longer descriptions, to see if that makes a big difference between the two styles?

The only other point I'd bring up is the size of the cards. Although it's easier to recognize the 'larger' thumbnails, we might want to go back to 75px for the horizontal layout, or the 5-column table is definitely going to stretch the width for some visitors. --FeralKitty (talk) 07:57, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I have used some larger description samples this time around and I think I might like the first one. It seems like it is easier to read to me with it's longer wordings, however the size is at 100px. What do you think? I really wanted that 5 column layout to work with out big images and many, MANY breaks in the description. Also I wanted to center the text under the image. Is this really that serious or am I just making it more difficult? Many thanks for your help once again. You can tell I am beginner--ImaTestWentBad 09:01, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
I like the first one also now, even with the shorter descriptions. Moving to 100px made a big difference. It's looking great, thanks for putting this together! I agree that the longer descriptions just don't work in a horizontal layout, especially if you view it at 800x600. --FeralKitty (talk) 16:10, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
