Romance

Romance is Viva Pinata's term for "ready to reproduce".

When a Pinata is ready to reproduce a heart will appear above the Pinata's head.

Direct a pinata with a heart above their head to another pinata, of the same species, with a heart above their head to initiate the process of romancing. When the pinata come together to romance a mini-game will appear in which you must guide one of the pinata through a maze of loathers to meet with their partner.

Population Control

Do your pinata have all of their romance requirements met, but the hearts do not appear above their heads?

If this is the case, you do not have space for more pinata in your garden. Make room by selling or trading pinata from your garden you no longer need. Visitors also count against this space.

Odd Pinata Out

The only pinata that can be romanced outside their own species are Swanana and Rashberry. After they have romanced with a member of their own species and you have built a Mystery House, you may Romance these two together to produce a Pigxie.

Romancing minigame

There is different mazes involved with each mating rituals by each species. You start by controling one of the pinata, and have to meet its mate at the end. The mini-games will be more difficult for the rarer and more advanced pinatas.

During the Romancing minigame, you must guide your piñata, and try to reach your partner without hitting any loathers.

The Loathers are creatures created by Professor Pester and they hate the pinatas being happy.

You start with a limited amount of time and "lives" to reach the end. If you hit a loather you will lose a life and waste some of your time. There are coins to collect on the way as well, with a total of 20 coins per maze.

After completing the minigame successfully, the happy piñatas will go into their house and do their romance dance.

Romance Dance

Piñatas love to dance! Every piñata home has a jukebox where they play their favorite songs and dance 'til they drop.

When you have two piñatas of the same species, you can introduce them to each other once their romance requirements are met and they have a heart above their head. This initiates the mini-game, navigate the maze and get them to become real friendly behind closed doors. The piñatas will perform a species-specific mating dance, consisting of everything from tacky romance music to weird piñata dance moves!

After they have romanced in their home an egg will be delivered by a helper named Storkos. When the egg hatches there will be a baby member of that species. Give the baby a little time and it will form a cocoon and a full grown pinata will emerge.
