Leafos presents you with the Packet of Seeds as part of the tutorial. This tool is used for planting grass. Initially, only short grass can be planted. But at level 11, a Long Grass Packet is available from Costolot's Store for 1,125 chocolate coins.

Grass is one of the components that many plants may need to grow. Some plants will only grow on grass. Others have to grow on the bank of water, in mud. Grass is also an important factor in a pinata's appear, visit, resident and romance requirements.

If you have placed some grass, but would like dirt instead, equip the grass seeds, and hit the Button x.png to pull up the grass. Press Button x.png again to stop.

Similarly, you must pull up or cut down long grass in order to plant short grass.

In addition to short grass and long grass packets, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise adds snow and sand packets.

Snow is required to plant arctic plants and keep arctic pinatas happy, while sand is necessary for desert pinatas and plants.

The snow packet is received after capturing a arctic piñata for the first time, while the sand packet is received after capturing a desert piñata.

Surface Packets Achievements

Once you have obtained all four Surface Packets, the Packet Bulger achievement is unlocked.
