After making a garden strictly for attracting elephanillas (two monkeynut trees, four blackberry and gooseberry bushes and lots of corn growing) I have gotten one. However the second one I have been attempting to attract, visits regularly, eats a good amount (checking off at least two of the requirements each time) and then leaves. When I get the next visit it is either a new elephanilla or the old one has "reset" itself. Let's talk about frustration...
Any ideas or is this just because elephanillas hate me? ![]()

It's a different one. They don't "reset" themselves. There are many wild pinatas of a species, and you're not guaranteed to attract the exact same elephant back on the next visit.
It is frustrating to get certain higher-level pinatas to reside, but you've done the best thing you can do by making a custom garden just to attract that species. Hang in there, make sure all appear/visit requirements stay met as it eats the produce, and your patience will eventually pay off!

You could always just get Gretchen to catch another one for you. You already have one residented, so it can be easily done if you have some coin to spare. It'll probably be cheaper in the long run, especially if you're trying to replace the produce every time it leaves.

Cute and great sig, Kamichan. I was hoping to avoid the capture method, but will most likely bow out to that after a few more tries...
Ah well, thus is the life of a pinata gardener...valar morgulis, valar doherlis.

I had the same trouble getting a second eaglair to reside, last night.
It had eaten so many buzzenge, that I didn't see the point in spending more coins on getting Gretchen to catch one. in the end, I used the 'Roario method', and whacked the buzzenge myself, and practically force fed the eaglair!

i also started believing, that "second" elephanillas try to frustrate me intentionally!
first one was difficult - yes! an no chance of the "roario-method". but the second ones really seem to run away deep into the forest and forget comming back - but send at least 3 hungry brothers, which of course - will never eat ALL..... but after long long time of play i had to admit that also gretchen has her right for her job ![]()

The only thing I can think to help you is to recommend that you make sure you keep all of the visiting requirements topped up at all times, this way the same Elephanilla has more chance of returning.
If the visiting requirements are forefilled that one that's eaten a lot of your garden already may lose interest and wander off.
