On the wiki page it says a Lizard Expert helper was cut from the original game. Now witht the addition of another reptile pinata

I do have one question to add (and I might have scanned over the answer above, sorry)
Was there anything added which would prohibit future cheating? Like generating a unique serial number for each wildcard, embedded code which would prohibit such actions, etc...
(thanks for the move Jim, didnt see this thread)

What else would you want them to do?
bi-products of weeds such as flowers probably help get variants.
If there is snow, and you put water in, will it freeze and you have to crack it with the spade  ?

I doubt we'll hear anything about a Games for Windows version until well after the Xbox 360 game is released. Even then, it isn't a guarantee, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this one ported over as well.

Will old pinatas have the same requirements? Can we transfer pinatas from one game to the other. No and no.
Well, mostly no. The pinatas requirements are all being updated to reflect the influx of their new brethren onto the isle, so expect a few weeks work updating the wiki.
As for savegame, no go, sorry. Due to the way the VP save works, which is not too far off a mem dump, backwards compatability wasn't really an option. Believe me, in the office we can't even get them importing from a week ago, let alone two years ago ;)
Will there be albino pinatas? cause if there was, I could have arctic!Albinos, no, but the variants are back.
Will the storybook be changed/added to in any way?Trouble in Paradise has a stronger storyline than before. As you may have seen from the trailers, Pester is out to wreak havoc at Pinata Central and you are tasked with the job of making sure his plans are thwarted and everything it put right again.
I remember leafos saying something about a white and sandy coloured dragonache. Now that theres snow and sand, will we be able to get these dragonache colours?Who knows? I'll let someone try that.
If there is snow, and you put water in, will it freeze and you have to crack it with the spade ?Too many Loony Tunes, NEXT!

Are the menus/load times improved?Yes, on everyone's copy except yours. :)
Like most things, we're working on improvements.
I just read about the "Seed Bag". Not much information was given but it sounds promising Whilst the shops are still there, the seed bag is a tool that allows you quick access to all your seeds without having to witness Lottie and her oneliners. From the garden you can pull it up as easy as a spade from a menu and then you scroll round lobbing down seeds as if you were Seedos.

I have a few questions on crating.
First – Will there be a way to see contents of the crates in your PO?
Second – Will we be able to mix items in crates this time around? For example can I ship piñatas along with their house all in a single crate?
Last – While I saw that there isn’t going to be a “C.O.D.” for the crates what will be the maximum amount of CC’s we can put into a crate this time around? In a single try that is not the send and add of the old version.

Will the garden size be bigger than the original game and also will there be a higher item limit.
The one thing that annoyed me about the original game was the size and item limitations :(
I want a Huge Garden where lots of landscaping can be done, place lots of items and be able to fit most my pinatas in at the same time.
I hate destroying things to make room :(
Also can we slightly raise land in this one so the garden does not have to be totaly flat?
Maybe an option to make a walled garden shrubbery and such landscape features where the ground is on a higher level if something is boxed in and filled in with soil.
Maybe have an option to grow huge hedges and cut them into your own shapes with shears.
As you can see I'd love designing bigger gardens with more options (like the size of a safari park maybe, lol).
Thank you for your time out in answering in advance and best of luck.

I have a couple of questions that I don't know the answer to:
1. I heard on a site that the story of the game is sending pinatas to parties. Is this going to be the main story line and will the glitch be resolved so that your pinatas will definetly come back to you.
2. I have heard that the garden space limit has increased by an awful lot but will the garden at maximum size be larger than viva pinata classic.
3. Just wondering but is there anymore info about the game element of visiting the arctic and desert regions of the game.
Any help would be appreciated! :D

Although the garden limits have definitely been increased, I don't think that the garden size has changed.
3. Just wondering but is there anymore info about the game element of visiting the arctic and desert regions of the game.
You visit those regions to trap desert and arctic species, which can then reside in your garden.

If your pinata does something interesting/funky/exciting then their candiosity is likely to improve.

1. Yes. The message is now automatically displayed in the PO and if you're sending the crate to yourself the message will also automatically be filled in with the species name.
2. No.
3. Don't know.
PLEASE MAKE A DS VERSION
I don't have a 360, and I don't wanna buy one for one game
Well, we are shipping a DS version of Pinata very soon, Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise. At the moment Trouble in Paradise has only been announced for the 360.
Will the garden size be bigger than the original game and also will there be a higher item limit.
Also can we slightly raise land in this one so the garden does not have to be totaly flat?
The garden maximum size will not be changed but we are working on squeezing more items into the garden itself. There will be no ground raising tools but there will be area select tools to make digging large ponds easier.
Ok this is my #1 question, do you have to make the old pinatas residents??? like do i have to catch preztails, bunnycombs, and whirlms again??or do you make the new ones resident? If anyone can answer this you are a huge help.
Yes, you will. VP:TIP knows nothing of VP:Classic and so you will need to spend time collecting all the pinatas again. This time, however, there are roughly 50% more and all the pinatas requirements now take into account the new flora and fauna, so things shouldn't be too similar.
i got one
will pester be coming in the garden earlier than in the last game(like does he come in the garden at lvl 15 or something rather than lvl 20 and above)
and
will the dragonache have more use
Both Pester and the Dragonache will be returning but to what extend I will leave as a surprise.
Will old pinatas get new evos?
Pick one of the following:
- none
- some
-all
I want to leave some nuggets left for you all.
I have a couple of questions that I don't know the answer to:
1. I heard on a site that the story of the game is sending pinatas to parties. Is this going to be the main story line and will the glitch be resolved so that your pinatas will definetly come back to you.

The main storyline is that Pester has been a naughty little boy and has fiddled with their records and it's up to you to help restore them. There is more, probably ending with "the butler did it", but again I'm not going to spoil it for you.
As mentioned above, the garden size is the same but we're working on packing more in it.
As for three, not just yet...
Please note, if I'm you think I'm ignoring your questions it's because either I missed them or I simply cant answer them ;)

Great news about the new version and the kiddie friendly bits.
My biggest frustration with VPC was trying to meet the more complex requirements for some of the larger Pinata but getting hugely frustrated because the Pianta seemingly forget what they had done on their last visit (or they just never came back and new ones came each time).
Bad enough for your average player, but awful when playing with a 4 year old desperate to get her Elephanilla...
So is this improved?
Also will we be able to see that a Pinata has eaten 3 out of 4 items, rather than just knowing they must eat 4 etc?
My only other desires are a more streamlined interface. But it sounds like you have that covered?
Keep up the good work!

do you have to go places to catch pinatas or do they wonder into your garden??
Both. As in Classic, most species (http://pinataisland.info/viva/List_of_Viva_Pi%C3%B1ata:_Classic_species) will appear in the wild and visit your garden when you've met their Appear and Visit requirements.
Other species can only be found in the desert and Pinarctic, and you'll have to visit those regions to find them. Once you've managed to bait one, you'll be able to get that species to reside in your garden plot.

Please posts questions in the "Post your questions..." thread, not the Announcement thread.
Yes. The devs have already stated that all villagers are still in the game. Plus, Gretchen is still needed because most pinatas don't live in the desert or the arctic. You can't go into the wild (Classic part of the game) where most species visited from, and you also still need Gretchen to fetch, if you want more than 2 of a species, but don't want to bother romancing.
I think if you thought about this question a bit, you could have figured out the answer :)

My only other desires are a more streamlined interface. But it sounds like you have that covered? Both should hopefully meet with your approval. There is a Just For Fun mode where all the requirements for pinatas are greatly reduced down to single items and is aimed at those who just want to kick back and relax without worrying about too much micromanagement or Pester. This should hopefully please your youngster.
Also we've set about improving how the garden itself is interacted with with a new pinata finder, couch social co-op, seed bags and alike.
oh i had another ?, will there still be gretham's fetch'em sience u can go to the regions to trap pinatas is she needed?
I believe she'll be back. The sound of new areas to explore has made her sit up and take notice but we're still hammering out her big money sequel contract... Horace St James Golightly is trying to tempt her away on an expedition and she's playing hardball with us.

You want to know "sumthing" do you? Well, you do indeed earn magic. For every good deed the co-op player does, whether it be weeding, watering or alike, you'll fill a magic meter that can be used for tinkering, healing and cadiositifying. This is exclusive to the second player.
As for Wildcards, I'll let people experiment to discover the specifics.

Garden limits have been increased in Trouble in Paradise, so you can fit more in the same plot of land. Also, the game will tell you what specific type of item you have too much of, if you do hit a limit.

What I've been wondering about (Not sure if you're allowed to answer this, BIGsheep) is regarding the co-op play. Is it splitscreen, or is it GTA: San Andreas style (Player 2 is forever accursed to Player 1's screen, and leaving it will result in DEATH).

I've seen that answered already. It's all on one screen and if the two cursors move away from each other then the view will zoom out to allow them both to remain in sight at all the time.

It seemed like a good idea from the first game, so we've kept that for VP2 :) We've also done a lot of work to smooth out the bump when the auto-save kicks in.

Excuse the short answers, I just lost a large planned post and don't have the heart to do it again so please insert some wit and detail in where you feel necessary...
How Do U Get Sand And Snow In The Garden. Packets ,weather Machine,or Just An Area With Only Snow Or Sand
AND WILL THEIR BE MORE CROSSS BREEDING
- sand and snow will come in packets
What I've been wondering about (Not sure if you're allowed to answer this, BIGsheep) is regarding the co-op play. Is it splitscreen, or is it GTA: San Andreas style (Player 2 is forever accursed to Player 1's screen, and leaving it will result in DEATH).
- think Lego Star Wars where the camera pans with to accomodate both players
So I'm assuming the sound effects are the same? The bouncing seed noise and the tinkling of the cursor haunts my dreams occasionally.
Oh, and Rare peoples...you guys do any more pinata voices?
- most will remain the same
- we have recorded more, my ability to do camp animal noises has not gone to waste
does it save audomatically like the first one?
- as Rashberry said, yes, but we're also working on reducing its disruptive behaviour
will there be more than 3 variants for each pinata?
- variants will return but I can't say how they differ, mainly because I'm not 100% sure myself
will there be anew domestic pinata
- at the time of typing I don't think so, but don't hold me to that
ok will the ice and sand be sold in packets like the long grass and grass?? or will you already have it at the begining in the game
- as with most things you will have to earn them, you won't have to move mountains but you will have to earn them
What are the chances of the Geckie being dropped out of the game? The Gecko is one of the main reasons why I what the game.
- given that a MS playability survey shows that 92.3% of all 21-35 year old males that watch MTV can relate to the Gecko, there is no chance of it being dropped at all.
:p Do I detect a bit of frustration there? You guys are the experts on making games so I'm sure you will do a good job. I can't think of any other ways to improve the process of maintaining a garden of pinatas. Looking forward to TiP!
- that question always just makes me roll my eyes, we're not going to make it slower, after all :)

In the game you visit the Pinarctic region to capture arctic pinatas to bring back to your garden. Since the arctic pinatas like to live in the snow you are given a Snow terrain packet (which works just like the grass packets) to put snow in your main garden.
Sand from the Dessert Desert works the same way.

I ask as I notice a lot of similar Pinata tend to fight with each other (Eg: Newtgats and Lickitoads, the Horse type Pinata, the Waterfowl Pinata)

I have a couple of questions pretty important to me:
* Can you skip the tutorial? One of the things that annoyed me in the last is that you'd have to deal with Leafos with every new user or game.
* Speaking of Leafos, I really really hate her. She takes up space, gives you false information, and leaves your gates open. Please tell me if these issues have been dealt with or if (hopefully) she doesn't actually appear in the garden anymore.
* In regards to landscaping, has that been made more user friendly? One of the annoying things in the last game was spending 10 minutes at the beginning of each new garden pounding dirt and laying sod. Can you select large areas and make them all grass/dirt/snow/sand/water at once? The controls for that were also fairly imprecise. I'd end up with brown patches of un-stomped dirt that were impossible to get rid of unless I dug a pond and then filled it in. Have these issues been fixed?
* Have any of the Pinatas from the first game been left out of Trouble in Paradise?
* Any discussion about a Windows port of it, or is this going to remain Xbox 360 exclusive for the foreseeable future?
MissingNo.

Screenshots of Pocket Paradise (http://pinataisland.info/viva/Viva_Pi%C3%B1ata:_Pocket_Paradise) (for the Nintendo DS) have shown a beach, and Starfish pinatas have appeared on the TV show.
Although there are a few "undiscovered" species yet for Trouble in Paradise, it seems possible that the "third area" is where we'll find DS exclusives.

Replacing the traditional tutorial, the optional Player Guide System directs players through a series of loose goals to help them master the fundamental aspects of “Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise.”
Can you select large areas and make them all grass/dirt/snow/sand/water at once?
From the Hands-On post (http://pinataisland.info/forum/showthread.php?t=9079): "You can now use the shovel (I assume an upgraded version) to dig large areas at once by just marking the corners of the area to be dug."
Have any of the Pinatas from the first game been left out of Trouble in Paradise?
Nope

( plant -> doenut -> Roario)
The names are done across the whole team with the winner usually being the best/worst pun (depending on your point of view) involving the animal and some sort of confectionary.
The food chain will be expanded to include the new areas, animals and plants but I won't give specifics.

It's fair to say you've moved to a different part of Pinata Island. The first time you're in your new garden you'll definitely see the differences as you're a lot close to Pinata Central.
I would probably say it's based roughly 22 months after the original, but the actual time line isn't truly set in stone.
Anywho, I was wondering if a Gold Xbox Live membership is required in order to send crates to friends and/or upload screenshots to the Viva Pinata servers.

As with the first game we are aiming that crate sending features will be accessible to Silver account holders aswell as those with Gold. I'm pretty sure the same will apply to the photos, too, so no one should fret.
Is it gonna be worth it?
That's all down to your personal sense of worth. We're adding two new sub-gardens, 50% more pinatas, Pinata Vision cards, toys, trains, a new story mode, a better challenge system, a relaxing Just for Fun mode, photo uploading, yet to be talked about online features and a host of things I've probably forgotten about. Trust me, this is no rushed out followup.

The tutorial is something that heavily bugged me about the first one, so you'll be gladded to know it's mightily improved. This time round we've integrated a more subtle system where it teaches you how to play through a series of challenges. There are very few, if any, pop-ups and the hints are all very blended so as not to annoy experience gardeners whilst also not patronising beginners. You can also completely skip them if you want but a couple will introduce the new aspects of the game to you.
I can't say I've seen what Leafos is up to recently so I can't answer that, sorry.
Every garden will now come ready beaten down. Cracked earth is, as far as I know, gone. What seemed like a good idea in the first game did reveal itself to be an evil chore every time you started a new garden.
There are also area select tools for digging ponds, which should help those with a taste for aquatic pinatas.
As mentioned previously, everything from the first game will return in TIP.
No announcements have been made for a Windows version.
I can't believe that nobody has asked this: will there be any water pinata??
If you check the wiki people have already spotted a turtle and a crab.
How different will this game be? Will it feel like we are playing the original at times?Well, it's basically the same core game mechanic but with a whole load of improvements and new features. Those who have played before should be able to jump right in whilst also finding a whole load more things to play with.

"Loather" in that context is referring to the obstacles within the Romance Mini-Game. Y'know, the little red bomb-things that make the walls of the maze?

On various sites (gamesradar, spot, ect.) they say there is over 100+ pinatas in TiP. only 60 original+32 new=92 total? are the sites wrong?
It depends on how they are defining their terms. All the marketing info for the original game said there were "over 60 species" when there were only 60... but they were counting sour versions of the same species as a different species, and they were counting each of the 10 color variations of the Flutterscotch as different... so 77 total if you include those (we don't here).
At this point we don't really know how many new species are in the new game. I've seen "over 30", I've seen the 32 number, and then I've seen the 100+ number you mentioned that really doesn't add up. Since 32 is the most specific number we've seen that's the one that I think is most likely to be accurate.

There were no restrictions around what could or couldn't be written about Trouble in Paradise so at this point you've pretty much seen every scrap of information that Rare has made available. The "yet to be talked about" is referring to the fact that Rare hasn't talked about it yet, not that other people have neglected to mention it.

Anyway I do have another question, this time on twins.
Will we have the ability this time around to get Twins with species other than whirlms? Or will the twins still be based on mathmatical chance?

Yes, you can definitely earn twins of species besides Whirlms. I believe it is also based on the results of the romance mini-game... it may have just been the preview built I was playing, but twin Sweetles didn't seem too uncommon.

I suspect they simply made it hatch from Sand. That would be the easiest and most logical thing to do.

Well, we've had over 160 pinatas designed since we started the project so I can assure you the quality is there still. The only reason we didn't include more in either game is down to time and how long it takes to make each pinata.

There are two different types of Pinata Vision cards that can be created, Locked and Unlocked.
Locked cards work very much like sending a crate to someone in VP: Classic. When you create a locked card you must choose a specific gamertag as the recipient, and the item or pinata you are sending is removed from your garden. A locked card can only be scanned by the specified player profile and can only be scanned once.
I don't think locked cards cost any Chocolate Coins to create and use, but unlocked cards do. It costs you an amount relative to the value of the encoded item or pinata to create the unlocked card, and it also costs each time that card is scanned again.
So, to answer your question Locked cards can only be scanned once. You can keep scanning Unlocked cards but it will cost you chocolate coins every time that you do.

I assume some still think the Jeli is a special pinata because of the rumors the "Jeli exists in VP classic."

From the FAQ (http://pinataisland.info/forum/showthread.php?t=9132):
Q. Where do we get the Pinata Vision cards? Do we have to buy them?
Pinata Vision cards will be freely available online, and possibly found in print media. It's expected that some promotional cards may come from Rare. Gamers can also make their own cards, which can be used to trade a specific pinata. Visitors to the wiki can expect to see downloadable cards within the species articles (http://www.pinataisland.info/viva/Category:Trouble_in_Paradise_species), shortly after the game is released.

At first i thought of it as just a simple update to viva pinata: classic. New pinatas, new items and so on. But with the camera tool, the New A.I and so on.. is this really Viva Pinata 2?
What ever it is, i just hope they DO improve on the pinata interactions, so instead of just walking around needlessly they interact with one another :D
FeralKitty
05-25-2008, 08:47 AM
It's not called VP2, but yes, it's a brand new game (not an update). If you read all the stickies, you'll get an excellent overview (http://pinataisland.info/viva/Viva_Pi%C3%B1ata:_Trouble_in_Paradise) of all that's new and improved.
And yes, pinata interactions are improved. In addition to all the new toys and trains that they have to play with, each species has a series of tricks they can learn. There's also some sort of follow-the-leader feature, although I'm not sure if that's a game they play or a behavior or what.

(Maybe in VP 3? lol)You can see other areas of the island when you go to the Dessert Desert and the Pinarctic but there will be no true roaming of the island, that just doesn't fit into the game.

I was REALLY hoping that this would be different. I want to be able to get the unlocks on my own.. because my son will get them all first. lolNope, it will be the same as before to allow people to create multiple gardens of different themes without the need to play through the game in its entirity everytime they want a new theme.
As mentioned, the facility is there for you to create a new Silver or offline account for your son. That way they can trade pinatas with you and their friends and you don't have to worry about him accidentally digging up your prize patch of land.
Any chance of a collectors edition of the game?Who knows? No announcement has been made either way.

I have three questions.
1. Can anyone use those bar code pictures at any point of the game or will you like have to at least had that Pinata become a resident in your garden? It'd be really easy to get Pinata if you were able to use them whenever. Eventually, people will post them all online allowing people to get Pinatas easily w/o having to actually meet the requirements in the game.
2. When will the demo be released?
3. Do you have any plans on releasing information about the achievements before the release of the game?

You can use them at any point. Even without the cards, people can ask for species via trading. It's left up to the gardener, as to how they actually want to play the game.
You'll already find some Pinata Vision images (http://pinataisland.info/viva/Category:Pi%C3%B1ata_Vision_image) at the wiki.
When will the demo be released?
I believe a demo is expected shortly before the game's release, as mentioned in the TiP FAQ (http://pinataisland.info/forum/showthread.php?t=9132).

Achievements will be listed at the wiki, most likely before the game is released.

My question is about the scan cards/ passing of information to someone. I think there was a mention about also using "rare" scan that might become available for like all night/ or all day. If you have one of these cards, but want to keep share can you? I mean you still keep the funcunality, but you get to pass it along to one person and both you you can reap the rewards.
FeralKitty

It would make sense that cards which change the game's conditions (e.g. weather, time of day) would be unlocked cards, meaning they can be used more than once, and/or by more than one person.
There are several posts with more information about locked and unlocked cards which you can find by searching the Trouble in Paradise forum.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "rare scan", sorry.
Different cards will have different abilities, some of these will be locked to a single gamertag whilst others will be open to everyone. There is also the ability to lock cards to a one off use.
Whatever the setup, once the card has been scanned, its action will be in your garden and cannot be taken away. If that card can then be passed on you can quite happily do so.

Each species will have three wildcards. One of the three will be easiest to obtain.
The lower-level species will require less skill and experience to obtain one, while the higher-level species will be more challenging.

Every time that animal is scanned in to the garden you will have to pay the CC coins for dropping it in, sort of like a swifter version of Gretchin's.

If you keep sours in your garden in their sour form, will they keep messing things up, or will they be like the other pinatas and play nicely?

I think you have to feed them sweets to keep them happy or something like that but dont quote me on that
i'm hoping that there is a way to tame them but not make them turn sweet cos i want a garden full of Sour version pinatas insted of sweet versions of the Sours

As long as the camera can see the image, then you should be fine... so most any paper should work. Or you could just use an electronic device that displays images (iPod, cell phone, etc.) and show that to the camera.

We can reproduce the bitter piñatas. will have alternatives.
we will have this game in light blue flower that was in a corner of the garden, that was not available?
You will not be able to romance the sour pinatas. They won't have variants either as the red and black is what makes them sour.
No, but there are new flowers that you can find.

So about the Sours do we have to keep them happy or is there a way to tame them and keep them it the sour form?

I dunno if this has been answered yet, but can sours participate in the P-Factor or are the judges more concerned about losing their limbs?
While I'm at it, it looked like Leafos was... possibly dancing in the background one of the videos. Do some of the human characters interact with the pinatas in any way?

If I was a judge I'd be concerned of losing limbs because I like my arms and legs :p
Yes, I have a question, considering a walrus' diet in the real world is there going to be a seal pinata in this generation?

So about the Sours do we have to keep them happy or is there a way to tame them and keep them it the sour form?If you tame a sour it will transform into its tamed/sweet equivalent, there are, however, ways of keeping Sours in your garden.

You cannot select Sours to participate. It may be possible to keep them in your garden under certain circumstances but it doesn't mean they're going to play ball. A horse to water, and all that.
While I'm at it, it looked like Leafos was... possibly dancing in the background one of the videos. Do some of the human characters interact with the pinatas in any way?Our fungineers have worked at more interaction between all members of the garden community, so you can occassionally find Leafos discussing events with your pinatas. What she talks about is anyone's guess but I have heard she is currently hooked on Big Brother.

Probably ruder. She's been playing Animal Crossing since we last saw her and has been taking cues from Tom Nook.

I have a question about a glitch. Do fences contain pinatas better. I had the strongest (stone) fence and every couple of minutes my pinatas would walk right through it.

Okay, I have a question, I heard on a site that in the new game they have included something called golf sweets that you can play golf using the shovel and can theorectically create a whole mini golf garden if you want, is this true?
