View Full Version : Chewnicorn Troubles?
My Chewnicorns are glowing black. Er, are they supposed to do that? It's really weird.

Sounds like a graphics glitch. Have you tried rebooting your PC?

No, he's right. For some reason, the chewnicorn's color fades between black and it's regular color, and it doesn't matter if it's a variant or not. A chewnicorn's horn is supposed to glow, its color constantly gets lighter and darker by a little bit. In VP for Windows, it seems like their whole body fades to black at the same time as the horn gets bright, and fades to normal when the horn gets dark. I thought it was weird, too :-p And no, it doesn't do that on the Xbox 360 version. I don't know if it matters what graphics card you have or what textures you're using.

The same thing is happening to my Mallowolf!
I changed it to the light blue variant and it keeps flashing between being dark and light blue, also the eyes are flashing red in time...
can it be fixed? he looks really sick...

My Chewnicorn is doing the black thing too. I think he's doing it because we let it heal a pinata and changed to regular, but then it turned back to normal flasing between black & regular.

Does anyone know anything more about this? This happens in my game and I'm just not even going to bother using my Chewnicorn if it can't be fixed.

The Chewnicorn flashes like that to let you know that it can heal a sick Pinata if you have one that is sick. Once it heals a Pinata, it stops flashing, to let you know that it's not ready to heal a sick Pinata again. In a few minutes it should be flashing again to let you know it's ready to heal again.
Mallowolves can scare off Ruffians, so when your Mallowolf flashes, that's to let you know it's ready to scare off Ruffians, once it scares one away, it stops flashing, to let you know it's not ready to scare again. Like the Chewnicorn, in a few minutes, it should be flashing again to let you know it's ready to scare.

My Mallowolves flash. :\ It's really annoying, but kind of a little cool... just weird to watch Ripper flash from bright pink to dark blue.

My chewnicorn has been flashing like that ever since I tamed it and there is not any sick pinatas in the garden at all. I really dont like them anyway. The only real use for one is for getting a Galagoogoo to enter the garden and become resident. After that I get rid of it. I'm mostly playing the pc version because my xbox 360 broke and I wantd to play viva pinata trouble in paradise so badly I decided to try the original game on pc. Its a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Oh and my malowolf doesnt flash at all.

I will have to try and get a chewnicorn next time I play so I can see it flashing.
I had my hands full with this game the other day, I had forgotten how hard it was.:o My non residents kept eating my residents that I had ready to romance and in the middle of all this my Bonboons were having a funny and they kept getting stuck on the ladder of their house.

So I worked really hard and finally got a Chewnicorn in my garden. It's textures glow off and on. It's really weird. And I know it's the textures because there are no shines or anything. like ablack hole. and this only happens on it's main body. it doesn't happen to the tail or mane or horn or eyes. Is this normal? everywhere I look online makes me believe its not.... is there a way to fix it?
edit: added a picture

Don't know if it's normal or not, but others have reported similar effects with the Chewnicorn's appearance. I don't think there's anything you can do about it.

are you serious? come on, I want a normal chewnicorn, not a glitchy one. Do you know if all my resident chewnicorns will look like this or if this will be the only one?

I can send you one if you would like. Also try crating it up and uncrating it. I know that it's horn glows if it is read to heal a sick pinata, but haven't heard of this. GT: Imatestwentbad

If you're playing the PC version, this really belongs in the Classic for Windows forum. I'll move it.
There's already a thread there about this problem. Feel free to read the earlier posts.
By the way, crates can't be sent between the Xbox and the PC.

Maybe your Chewnicorn was supposed to be untextured but thought it was supposed to be normal?

a fast way to get a pinata sick is to whack it with a shovel

I searched with the word "flashing" to see if my Chewnicorn was doing something it wasn't supposed to do and if there was a solution for it but I see that I'm not the only one with a black-flashing chewnicorn. I guess I'll just have to live with the flashy pinata. (Pun not intended? :p ) Unless, of course, this isn't supposed to happen and someone actually has a solution for it? :o
