I think we already knew this, but its starting to make the rounds on all the big news sites again. Rare has stated "We aren't doing any downloadable content for Viva Piñata because we are much too busy doing something else..." in the latest edition of Scribes (http://www.rareware.com/extras/scribes/30aug07/index.html).

Either way, I think we're probably more interested in whatever the something else might be.

I saw this at the Xbox forums. I have gotten over the fact that no DLC is coming. As you said, there are already some great Viva Pinata things on the way. (Party animals, Viva Pinata for the Nintendo DS) I think we can forgive this fact, and admit that we have gotten everything we are going to out of the first Viva Pinata game. Very few games I have ever played lasted as long as VP, I'm satisfied. However, I would still like to see another VP game for the 360.

No, Rare isn't working on Party Animals. Krome Studios (http://www.kromestudios.com/) is the developer of Party Animals.

Well, we know that there is still a "Viva Pinata Team" at Rare... here's a list of things that we know that team is not working on:

DLC for VP1 - the point of this thread
Party Animals - that's Krome Studios
VP for Windows - that's Climax
VP for DS - Rare has a separate handheld team
Banjo-Kazooie 3 - Rare has a separate Banjo team

So what could they be working on? Hmmm... I wonder.

I believe a Rare employee has stated that work has not officially started or is even considered to go into a VP2 at this point.

I don't think a Rare employee has ever or would ever reveal what they are working on unless it has been announced in a press release. :-)

I have to say that all this speculation on what that something else is has been annoying me to death lately. Viva Pinata was developed by the Banjo Team. The Banjo Team is no longer working on Viva Pinata or DLC and Banjo 360 is currently in development, sooooo.... Got it now? The something else referred to was obviously Banjo 360. :)

I wasn't necessarily speculating, but thought that it was just rather obvious. The Banjo Team is no longer working on Viva Pinata and are currently working on Banjo 360, so what exactly would the something else be when the Banjo Team was responsible for the DLC? There's only one option there...

Not quite right :-).

The Banjo team and the Pinata team were once the Ghoulies team... ok this is going to get complicated :-)....

The Ghoulies team made Grabbed by the Ghoulies and then moved on to other things. Eventually the team split into a Viva Pinata team and a Banjo team about 1 year before the release of VP. The two teams remain mostly seperate, although a few people have moved to work on Banjo.

Hopefully I haven't said anything I can't and hopefully it will make it clearer and cause even more speculation!

We should play a game at Rare where we get points for every post we find on a forum that is speculating about a Rare game, how about this point score system?

Killer Instinct 3 = 1
VP2 = 1
VP Wii = 2
Conkers 2 = 5

Any suggestions for any more? :-)

p.s. the point scores do not suggest the probability of the item happening more a reference to the chance of someone bringing it up on a forum :-)

I've been Rare pwn'd! Gotta retract my statement on Rare-Elite...

Ok. Now to try and sort out what you said. Very confusing.

The two teams remain mostly seperate, although a few people have moved to work on Banjo." This is the most confusing portion of all. Speculation ensues!

1.) I assume then that the Ghoulies Team was working on those other things before it was decided that Viva was to move to console. Or perhaps another team was working on the project before the Ghoulies Team.

2.)So the Ghoulies Team becomes a full fledged Viva Pinata Team until around, say, September/October of 2005. At this point in time, many members of the VP Team leaves to reform the Banjo Team to begin development on Banjo 360.

3)Viva Pinata released nearly one year later, with several VP Team members having moved on to Banjo 360 sometime during the development cycle. With the game finished and the VP Team still in existence, it's possible that some VP Team members may have moved on afterwards and still do so. Or possibly even vice versa (Banjo Team members moving to VP Team).

So with the Viva Pinata team in existance still and no longer supporting Viva Pinata, what title could they possibly be working on? Another Viva Pinata is possible, but I personally find that unlikely. Especially on the Wii? I can't believe people are still assuming you all can develop games for another console... I suppose the whole 'Rare onNintendo DS bit is confusing a lot of people though. But anyway, since the VP Team was previously the Ghoulies Team then perhaps a new GBTG (you can add that to your point score), even though those horrible sales (don't get why, it's a very awesome game!) of the first say otherwise.

I don't believe it's Conker as I'm sure Mr. Seavor would play some part in that. And seeing as how he was quite sick of Conker--he did work on the same title for 8 years afterall (Conker's Bad Fur Day, Live and Reloaded)-- last I heard and was ready to move on to something else (back to Quest, perhaps?).

Killer Instinct 3... A dream for all us Rare fanboys (and girls!) around the world. Though, unfortunately, unlikely. As Loveday seems very keen and secure on the fact that neither it nor a new Jet Force Gemini is in development. JFG should definately come back. Heck, it sold over a million units if I'm not mistaken, so why not?

So my number one guess for what the VP Team is working on? I'll stick with GBTG 2 despite its lackluster sales or a new IP. Unless we've all just been Rare pwn'd and the VP Team is currently making a big transition to fully move over to the Banjo Team :p

When I had found out about it being discontinued, I held my copy in the safety of knowing that I have one and that it will be sold for millions on ebay in a few years :p

Plus, how can you deny the awesomeness of the Grim Reaper?... Come to think of it, Rare does a great job with Grim Reapers (Gregg FTW)...... I wonder if Rare would ever think of making a series specifically about (the) Grim Reaper(s), as long as it didn't end up being a rip-off of Grim Fandango. (I know, not gonna happen :P)

And you can chalk that as a "speculated game" on your little virtual chalkboard you've got going on up there :p ;)

Someone there has what looks to be a nice lotus elise in the parking lot. it's a redish car parked between to whitish cars on the first part of the first n looking part of the parking lot. you have to zoom in to see it.

the parking lot looks like it spells out Fn nl so on the first part of the first n you will see a redish car. from above it looks like a lotus elise.
