View Full Version : Bad News: No VP toys for Xmas.

As you may well know, Playmates,Inc. have all the solo rights to make any VP toys.
see: http://www.playmatestoys.com/html/corporate/pressreleases/Viva_Pinata_Oct_ToyFair_2006.pdf
They (the board) just convened Aug 7th, and there are no plans on releasing any VP merchandise in the 4th quarter (Oct-Dec of 2007).
This unfortunately isn't a rumor, this is coming straight from the Board meeting minutes. (the notes of the meeting that were recorded and reported)
For more clarification, they brought up a few product lines they were planning for Xmas 07. But NO mention of any VP toy what so ever. (No news, is bad news)
In further research on my part, I have found the Board meeting minutes for the projected activity of 2007.(released in March, 2007) They are pushing only 5 of their lines, 1 of which is the ninja turtle line, which from what i read is their bread and butter this year.
These reports are strictly for people who own stock in the company, and unfortunately the normal response "well maybe they are hiding the release!?"
does fit in this mold. The board report covers EVERYTHING that the particular company is doing in the near future. Which unfortunately means for us, no pinata's for our desks at work!
Only hope is that during the Q4 meeting, Early November, the toys might be ready for mass production for Xmas. But if THEY don't plan on it, we shouldn't either.

I think it comes down to a simple confidence matter for the manufacturers. The game hasn't sold enough and the TV show hasn't been out long enough for them to back it with toys. Hopefully this will at least change with the new VP games and the second season of the show.

I think a fun toy would be one of those jellybean dispensers. I can just see someone pressing on Fergy's back, his legs going out to the side and candy popping out of his mouth.

Hey not bad, I mean Fergy's body is the perfect shape.

My mom said Fergy would make a good cookie jar, I'd have to agree. Especially one of those talking ones, my friend and I had a whole discussion about this once, it got really weird, we had actual pinatas and a diorama pinata central (and then I fell off my chair and that nudged the coversation into a very bizarre place). I'm seriously considering contacting the company and asking when these things are coming out does anyone have anything they want to ad? Now they've done it! No one gets between me and my plush toys! (this is what happens when the "little squeaky" really gets serious :) who knew)

One thing that my mom and I would like to see is a diorama of the "therapy session" sequence from the pilot episode. My mom studies psycology and I'm going to as well so my characters have more depth (actually I read the books and watch the lectures so I already do), my mom and I are always looking for funny little psycology knick knacks for her future office and it would be great to have a little decoration of Fergy, on a therapist coach, with a button that when pushed says "how screwed-up is that?" (it's an on running saying in my family now, so you see)

We couldn't believe nobody picked up on that post. As soon as we saw it we started searching the web and that threw up a few ebay.com hits. We just sat back and watched.

No VP toys eh? If they did make them, I wonder if they would also sell outfits. That would be scary.
