[GJ] team graphics-off competition!

WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL THREAD OF THE FIRST GRAPHIX JUNKIES TEAM GRAPHICS-OFF!!

In this competition, Ten GJ members will be facing each other on two teams of five people each.

How it works:

each team will be competing to create THE BEST VIVA PINATA-THEMED WALLPAPER that they can possibly conjure up. The wallpapers will be 1024 by 768 pixels and should fit most computer moniters.
After the wallpaper is created, YOU, the lovely members of PIF will vote on which one should WIN!!
simple, no? The teams may collaborate as they please... leaving the brunt of the job up to one member OR sharing the entire project step by step. all members of the team are encouraged to HELP, however.


PRIZES:

the winning team will receive:
500k to each member, and each member will be able to request one free graphic (may be, but not limited to banners/avs) made by me, in whatever style they request.

Both teams have received PMs regarding their mission.
Let's hope that all members will be competing, so that we can all get the best VP wallpapers around!


DEADLINE:

The competition will end when BOTH TEAMS have FINISHED their wallpapers.
However, should the teams not have their Wallpaper finished by AUGUST 20 (which is a long way off) entries will still be judged, and the winner will be annouced, however the cash prize will be SLICED IN HALF. and there will be NO GRAPHICS FOR YOU! winners (and losers) are encouraged to finish their wallpapers anyway just for the PIF members!
Should one team finish and the other team not, the entries will still be judged by the public, but if the unfinished team should win, their prizes are cut in half, and no graphics they shall receive. if the finished team wins, they will receive the normal prizes.

Then we would all have to pass out the psd to each other,but there is a problem if one has a high version of photoshop and the others dont.

If not you can always download the trial version for free from the adobe website

True,but the team should also know not to combine the layers,and just do new layer then apply image.If they combine the layers then you wont be able to edit them no longer.

Yeah that is something for beginners,something harder is like pen thing,or using C4Ds in the right places.

Awesome! I'd glad you guys are in. Ok, peeps on my team, after my spankin' new PS CS3 is done downloading :D I will start it off, and then email the .psd file to you guys.

please PM your emails, people on my team, and I will send you all mine.
Also, I will be saving a copy of the .psd file in case anything messes up... and when you guys make progress on it I reccomend that you save a back up file as well.

As i stated earlier i have no idea where to begin and i suppose we should start our idea/brainstorm soon. *not on the forums of course that would be MUCHO bad* Cause then the other team can see our uber awesome ideas ;)

may i suggest something that we do as an industry standard when it comes to sharing image files. Whether your on photoshop 5.5 or CS3, Corel Draw or GIMP... (Gimp is a free graphics software that is as powerful as CS3)

Save you files as TIFF's WITH layers. And save the hidden information as well.(these are settings in and graphics program)

Saving files like this allows ANYONE to open the file and edit each layer.

Just food for thought.

Might I inquire as to what caliber you are using? I speak gun, don't worry.

Maybe we can go 1v1 in Perfect Dark Zero some time.

Back on topic: The only GNU manipulation program I have is GIMP. Is that suitable for the contest?

GIMP can alter .PSD files i believe so it should work. You might want to download the trial though if you find that it doesnt.

Currently it is four vs. four, team 1 is well balanced but our team consists of me and andmill who have PS but two apprentices who don't, I beleive. The apprentices haven't gotten back to us on what they want to do in this, so right now it's just me and andmill working on the file.

On the other hand... I don't even know if the other team has started :/ I haven't asked.

You can choose which team you would like to join, mine or nugget's, and will be placed on the team you choose. Maybe you can push our team to victory... or jumpstart team 1 to the finish line...

each team only has one wallpaper, so I'd rather you just choose a team to be on without making a wallpaper. If you make a wallpaper by yourself that's kind of against the rules because I want everyone on the team to contribute to the wallpaper.

so just pick a team already! >:P

Seriously to the point of annoyance do not call me that.. But yes however i did some slight touchups to it today and my darn thing "ran out of virtual memory" or whatnot and closed down on me :(

I also received a phantom sendspace file that color filled the tree and some leaves. I dont know who sent it but that was one cool idea..
