Yesterday, I got a package in the mail from MS. It was my fifth 360. It came 10 days early! Yay me.
I opened it up to see if it worked; it did. The TV was being used so I was unable to have it on for more than that 30 seconds.
This morning, I popped in PGR3, which I played for about 30 minutes before I had to leave.
I came back and decided to play a bit of Kameo. What do ya know?...
IT WAS BROKE!!!
That was my flippin' fifth 360! Now, after calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX, I have to ship it up and send it back again FOR ANOTHER THREE WEEKS!
I'm getting sick and tired of MS. If there was a protest at MS now, I'd be the first to sign up. I mean: WHERE IS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DETERMINATION TO MAKE A SYSTEM THAT WORKS???
To those who don't already know:
Order of My 360s and How Long They Lasted:
XBox 360 #1: Worked for about six months.
XBox 360 #2: Complete dud. Never turned on correctly.
XBox 360 #3: Complete dud. Never turned on correctly.
XBox 360 #4: Worked for about six months.
XBox 360 #5: Worked for about 24 hours.

That's it you have to get it together and send a serious complaint to Xbox support via phone or e-mail. Mine's broken 3 times but 5 is just totally outrageous.

What good would that do? I truly don't believe sending a 'serious complaint' to XBox Support will do me any good. It won't speed them up. Either they'll:
1) Throw it out.
2) Read it and throw it out.
3) Read it and keep it in a pile of hundreds of other complaints.
4) Get mad at me.

We received an Xbox 360 for Christmas, which worked for about 15 minutes before locking up. We sent it back to Microsoft, and received a new unit about 3 weeks later. That one worked for about a day, before we realized that the disc reader was scratching up every single game. Microsoft wanted to send us ANOTHER refurbished unit, which we outright refused. Fortunately, we went back to Circuit City, where we got the original unit, and the management was awesome. Even though it was not their responsibility, they allowed us to exchange the broken Xbox 360 for a new one. We also spent around $100 on a two year warranty, just so we don't have to deal with Microsoft. The company may be great, but their customer service is absolutely terrible.
Just be aware that if you're receiving units from Microsoft, they are REFURBISHED, which may be part of the problem. I recommend going back to the retailer that you first dealt with, or look at Circuit City. Good luck!

Wow I'm surprised so many people had problems, mine worked like a charm except for scratching one disc. Maybe I'm lucky??

WOW 5th and still not 100% working?! That's unbelivable. Maybe it gets damaged during shipment. If you have like a gamestop or bestbuy near you buy one there, it makes a big difference.

This really sucks. I feel sorry for you. I have had my 360 since day one. The only problem I've ever had was that it would freeze up when I was trying to delete my old messages. After the first majour update this became a thing of the past. My friend also had to send his 360 back but the one sent back to him worked fine ever since.
I always fear the day that it stops working. Both my MS and EB Games warrentys are over now and I don't know what I'd do if it broke. Play Wii and wait months till I could afford to buy a new 360? :( I couldn't afford to replace mine right now due to the pending wedding.

I just got off the phone with MS Support. Luckily, I was able to get help in about 5 minutes on hold. The guy said that I have to send in my 360 and get it repaired. However, I didn't think it was going to cost $140 plus shipping! This is rediculous. If it comes back and still doesn't work, what should I do? I can't just keep throwing away $140. Chances are I'll go to Best Buy or Circuit City to get it repaired. Are they any cheaper?

I came back from school and popped it on for 5 seconds. It still works.
I'm not sure what I'll do with the MS box when it arrives.

Call them and tell them that it works now. They might let you keep the box for next time. That happened to me once.

It's broke now, after 30 minutes of me playing Kameo.
I sense a very annoying pattern occuring. I'm going to try to turn it on again in an hour or so.
If this is a pattern of working-nonworking-working, etc. etc., I think I'll send it in anyway just so I can get rid of the annoyance.

Perhaps a new one won't be so lame? I don't know. I'm just hoping that there is a light at the end of this time-wating tunnel.
I want a 360 that works properly for many, many moons.
