On google while looking for something COMPLETELY unrelated i stumbled upon this guys blog. Its actually really true and i never thought of it that way?
But what really interested me was the last paragraph. Since were not all too sure about any updates/patches/DLC for this game, why not give us a stab at making some?

I thought the exact same thing when I first played VP. I have about 5 years of OOP experience and this blog basically sums it all up.
Unfortunately I dont think any game dev is willing to hand out its source code for any reason, even to fix the flaws.
IMO if the bugs havent been fixed yet, they aren't going to be, and the same goes for DLC, more should have already been released, I dont think we have much to look forward to in that respect. However, I would love to put my foot in my mouth :)

I am with you, if they dont release a vp sequel or Downloadable stuff or patches, then we aren't gonna see them. Clearly they must have forgot about VP if we haven't seen anything as of yet.

Console development is a pretty closed environment. You can't just take source code (which wouldn't be made available) and run it on a retail console. Even I can't do that at work. We have special devkit's that are different to what you have under the TV.
If console software development is something that interests you, you'll need too look at things like XNA Studio and WiiWare that do provide an environment on which to develop your own console games. Sony had a NetYarazoo (not sure of spelling) on the PS1 (or was it PS2) and I think they are looking at similar things for PS3.
