From AllThingsD (http://allthingsd.com/20110923/apples-iphone-has-a-89-percent-retention-rate/):

In terms of smartphone stickiness, Apple’s iPhone is the stickiest around.

Nokia, in particular, is in desperate straits, according to the chart.

It's not surprising, considering the desperation shown by Nokia US, in refusing to sell Symbian handsets in the US, even while Nokia continues to sell them in Europe and elsewhere.

Nokia US is now run by Chris Weber, formerly a corporate VP at Microsoft. Weber says, "The reality is if we are not successful with Windows Phone, it doesn’t matter what we do (elsewhere)."

Well, when you leave existing (Symbian and MeeGo) customers out in the cold, and take choices away from consumers, that doesn't seem like a plan for success.

Probably explains why hardly anyone is planning to buy a Nokia handset, and almost 30% of respondents are ditching Nokia.
