From TechCrunch (http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/30/android-apple-70-percent-smartphone/):

Android and Apple together now account for nearly 70 percent of smartphone subscribers in the U.S., according to new estimates for July put out today by comScore (http://www.comscore.com/Press_Events/Press_Releases/2011/8/comScore_Reports_July_2011_U.S._Mobile_Subscriber_ Market_Share). Android phones command nearly 42 percent market share, while Apple’s iPhone grew slightly to capture 27 percent. Android is growing faster, up 5.4 percent from April and up 1.7 percent from June (http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/04/comscore-android-40-percent/), whereas Apple’s share is up 1 percent for the three-month period and 0.4 percent fro the previous month.

The two smartphone powers keep taking share from RIM’s Blackberry, Microsoft, and Symbian. Blackberry took the biggest hit, down 4 points since April, 2011 to 21.7 percent. Microsoft’s mobile OS share is down 1 percent to 5.7 percent of U.S. smartphone subscribers. And Symbian is barely hanging onto 1.9 percent share in the U.S.

Honestly, I always forget there are more smartphones than just Android and Apple. I've never even heard of Symbian... owo

You probably know them by their Nokia name.

They're still sold in Europe (where Symbian has a very big market share). Nokia US is partnered with Microsoft, and has stopped selling their Symbian phones here in the states. Symbian's US numbers can only go down as those customers eventually switch to other phones.

It's a big risk for Nokia US, especially since their WP7 phones apparently aren't due until 2012. Meanwhile, Apple is supposedly coming out with two new iPhones (one a low-cost model) this fall, so Microsoft market share may continue to decline this quarter, while Android and Apple gain a larger share of the pie.
