A new report (http://canalys.com/newsroom/android-takes-almost-50-share-worldwide-smart-phone-market) from Canalys claims to have a dismal number on hand that will be sure to disappoint any person who claims to be a Windows Phone fan: In the second quarter of 2011, according to the firm, less than 1.5 million WP7 handsets were sold.
That is very poor number. The report goes on to put the figure into perspective: “Fewer than 1.5 million Microsoft-based smart phones shipped during the quarter, equating to a mere 1% share of the global market, down 52% against shipments a year ago.”
