I bought myself an early Christmas present last week. If I decide to get Kinect and Kinectimals, I'm all set. <g>

Yesterday, I decided to play some VP1. I had finished more than half the game on the hard drive that had to be replaced. On my last hard drive, I was to level 24. For what reason, I moved the VP files to the new hard drive. I know from experience that you can move them but they won't work. However, good news. When I fired up VP, I had one of the gardens (I had 4) that I moved and ALL of the levels. Just that level 24 but much better than starting from zero. If only I'd moved the files from the defective hard drive.

So, if you haven't decide whether or not to buy the new system, this might help. I don't know what they've done to make this possible but I was really pleased!

For real? I was kind of thinking of getting one because I've wanted a bigger harddrive for a while, the built-in Wifi is nice (though unnecessary), and it's just such a sleek, sexy little thing. :P
But I've just been kind of worried about the smaller size furthering the overheating and hardware problems that the other 360s have. To be fair, I haven't seen anything to validate this concern or anything, but it's been enough to hold me back from buying one...

I had the double antenna for my old XBox and the signal was always "good" (I'm several plastered walls from router). With this, the signal is "excellent"! And, of course, it's N, not G.

I don't know about this. I had thought that the RROD was a thing of the past with the Elite but the salesperson said that's not the case. <shrug> I wanted my Christmas present NOW! <g>

And I'm quite delighted about not having to start VP1 over again again. :)

My grandkids will be glad I got it. They get my Elite that I'm replacing.

Yes but the console still needs the game in the disc bay as verification or whatever even if you've installed the game to your hard drive so you'd still need to have a working disc.

Actually, the disc only needs to be in the drive; if it's scratched, it should still work fine.

The game disc has to working copy even if the game is installed on the hardrive. I'm on my 6th copy of the game.

Hmm. Son and grandson play one of their games with a scratched disc that they had installed on the hard drive before disc got scratched. Just lucky? Different games, different hard drive, different systems (one Elite, one Elite slim).

It probably varies based on how scratched the disc is, and/or the console's optical drive

That makes sense.

My halo reach edition slim RROD right out of the box, then froze within a week.

Quite mad.
