I've seen people pay mass amounts of money for junk....why?

you can't buy junk in the game, and some people might think it looks interesting. I kinda like the arcade machine

Because you can only get junk at the start of the game, and it can look nice in a "Junkyard" type garden when you want everything looking old and broken, but since most people just break the junk at the start of the game, they have no means to get the junk without buying it from someone else.

The GBtG arcade machine is awesome to have in ANY garden :)

The arcade machine is for a Grabbed by the Ghoulies game. The junk that appears in each garden is random, though, so you may not have seen it.
