I come home from a long track meet to lounge in one of my gardens. I turn the console on and BAM! It won't read the disk. I try it again. Nothing. I try another disk. Again nothing. I get online to see what the problem is. I find that it's probably the laser. I get on youtube and follow the opening the console instructions and cleaning the laser. I put the thing back together and it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions on why it doesn't work.
And no,l I did not touch the laser, except with the q-tip.

Maybe a wire isn't totally in.
This is just a guess i know how machines work but not always the issues....Usually not.....

Have you tried installing the game to the hard drive? It helps and also makes load times much faster.

Installing the game? I'm not sure what you mean.

Installing the game into your hard drive will mean that you can play it without the disc spinning. Therefore you have far less problems with disc read error and short loading times. This can be done from the Dashboard and will take up space on you HDD. Be sure you have room for it.

Step by step. Xbox Dashboard > My xbox channel > Highlight the "Play ...." Wait for the logo and name to load. > Press Y > 3 Options and on the right 'Page' all achievements appear. Click Install to Hard Drive. Also makes the xbox not so loud.

Thanks guys! My dad and I took it apart again yesterday and he took one of his special cleaning tools and cleaned the laser. It works fine now.
I might try the downloading thing when I get on.

That was a terrible idea. You voided the warranty.
