Hiya peeps!

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but my questions don't quite fit anywhere else either.

For various reasons, I was not able to set up an Xbox live account. Now I can! Yay! But I hit a snag! Not YAY!

I plugged in my Xbox, can get online, it dropped into our network so nice and easy. I got my system about the same time I registered here on pinata island. So I go to my dashboard, tell it that I want a start a Live account. It takes me to my email, I put it in. It says I already have a Windows Live ID, which is about 6 years old, because I never ever use it. I go to my computer, try to remember the password, can't do it, so I reset it. Sign into windows live ID and it works. Cool

Go back to the Xbox, put in Windows Live Id (same email) and new password and it tells me that there is already a Gamertag associated with my Windows live ID. Verily, I say unto thee, what the heck?

I have never signed up for xbox live before. My husband has, has a gamertag, HIS account, HIS email, not mine! We check to see if it's associating my Zune account as a gamertag. Nope. I try deleting my windows live ID. No help there either, it still says I have a gamertag associated to my email.

So I have questions!

1. Pinata Island is my ONLY xbox ish associated online id? Is it somehow thinking that this is a gamertag? Are we associated with Xbox live? I didn't think that we were.

2. Is there any way to find out who or what the attached gamertag is? Like, is there a site somewhere where I can put in my email addy and see what the associated gamertag is? Because I am 99.99 percent sure I've never signed up before, but hey, I don't know. Maybe it is me, or my evil twin! I'm pretty sure it isn't since there's absolutely nothing associated with my email. I've gone through my deleted emails (nothing ever truly dies on Teh Intarwebz, donchaknow), my spam folder, my entire HUGE gaming folder (I confess, I never delete my gaming stuff. You never know when you might need that stuff. Like when your evil twin apparently managed to get an xbox live account/gamertag without ever actually having an xbox...). I have never, ever recieved anything via Email relating Xbox live or a gamertag in all the time I've had this account, which is (egads!) 12 ish years.

Anyhoo, I can't figure this out and it's bugging me. I'll probably just go make a brand new email addy to set up my account with and try not to obsess over this. But I was wondering if I can even see what's going on. Don't worry, if someone did use my email addy, I'm not planning on hunting them down for a wet willie or anything. I'm just wondering how they did it. And maybe why.

No, there's no connection between account information on this site, and information maintained by Microsoft.

Go to Xbox.com, and sign in with your Windows Live ID, to see your account information. Your gamertag will show up there.

Their site also has a support section with help about gamertags, and your Windows Live ID.

Thanks, I didn't see anything on the Xbox site... I'll go look again!
