" Viva Piņata 3 for E3? MS announces triple A title to demo.

Microsoft is planning to showcase a triple 'A' title at E3 2009 if reports are to go by. Australian website, Gameplayer is reporting that they have spoken to Microsoft to confirm plans for the show.

The plans include the demoing of four behind-closed-doors games, of which the press are able to opt-in before the event begins. One of them will probably be Halo: ODST.

The other three are unknown, but we're hedging bets on Forza Motorsport 3 being another. However a representative from Microsoft told Gameplayer that one of the games is an unannounced AAA exclusive.

Journalistic nature has led them to believe it could be a game from Rare, due to the other developers all being a 'little bit busy' or not planning to show anything off (e.g Rockstar).

What do you think the games could be? Or is this just more false rumour-mongering from a website hoping for some cheap hits? "

I really really really hope there will be a number 3 :D:D:D:D

This would be totally awesome if it is a third Viva Pinata, but from what I have heard, that game will be LONG in the making either way...

I suspected this, too! Even before I saw that article! While I do have my fingers crossed, I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I don't want to be disappointed if it isn't true. Oh well, only time will tell! ;)

Well, there's sort of a pattern forming here......

2006: Viva Pinata Classic
2007: Viva Pinata Party Animals
2008: Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise/Pocket Paradise

Maybe Party Animals 2?

They didn't even show (RARE). Nobody was expecting VP3 anyway. Why do we need it?

Major Nelson confirms Perfect Dark on XBLA [twitter] (http://twitter.com/majornelson/status/2008690137). It may be all we see from RARE but there's definitely oldschool fans for this title in 1080P.

We are all hoping for another installment on this [our favorite franchise ever], however It may be just a little too early for it to actually happen.

I think the project natal thing is pretty cool, but I wouldn't like it very much for a gardening game because I would rather just go outside and actually dig around and plant things then doing the motions for it in front of the tv. Just my opinion but it would remind me of how I think most sports games are silly because you can do all of them in real life and they have a ridiculous amount of videogames for them. I suppose the same could be said about Viva Pinata games as well though...

Project Natal? It looks like a webcam reaction rip-off. I am not liking that... anyway I do hope there will be a VP3 with some new animals and plants and more respect for the PECKANMIX.

VP3 comes out in 2010.
Every VP game takes two years.
It is a sandbox game, so it is very complex, and the beatuiful graphics mean pinatas take time.

True, although Rare have stated (no citation, sorry; you can search on this site) that they have spent a lot of time (six years, I think) on the first two. If they make a third game, it wouldn't be for a little while. Don't rule it out, though. I'd like to think of a 2011/12 release date, but I don't think there's any proof of another. For right now, stay busy with PV Cards.

As long as there is the hope for a new game..I've grown quite fond of VP. It's great to play when you need a bit of cheering up. I hope it still has a future.

Y'know, I'd like to see a Nuts and Bolts esque game with Natal. Remember that driving game on the Natal Trailer, yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

Gah, if it comes out in 2010 I'd love Rare super for that.

Oh finally the waiting is over if anybody from rare is looking at this here are some cool ideas for this new game...

The forum already has ideas threads for the game and for new species. This thread is about this year's E3. Please don't take it off-topic by posting species ideas.

Also keep in mind that most people are posting guesses about when a new game might be out, when we don't even know if Rare is even working on another VP.

In all honesty I don't believe a third VP game would be the wisest decision for Rare at this point in time. I think now is the time for them to bring out something completely different, perhaps a new franchise? KI3? (No, seriously)

It just seems that every game Rare has released since it went to 360 apart from VP has been either ignored, hated, didn't sell well, or some mad combination of the 3, despite the actual quality of the games. I'm really getting sick of it and IMO Rare needs something new to get out of this rut.

I see Viva Pinata as a Banjo-kazooie of this generation. Two main games (released two years from eachother, just like B-K, B-T), a series of spinoffs, a portable game, and only actually revisited some 8-10 years later. (Hopefully a little sooner this time)

I agree in some aspects. I think RARE should create a whole new game, take people by surprise. It might do some good for them. I'd love to see another sandbox game, but I'm afraid that they seem to be largely taken for granted. Viva Pinata is an amazing game with so much potential, but unfortunately there is probably under 1000 who think so. Halo, or Call of Duty on the other hand seem to have billions of fans. All first person shooters seem to. I wish that people could open their eyes and see that there are other games that can be REALLY fun!

And then, instead of playing a shooter, when they're over at their friend's house playing VP, they decide to bash the heck out of Seedos, Leafos, any pinatas they attained (usually only a Whirlm at that point)! I've seen it!! I agree that a new game would be fantastic, though. New plotline, new characters, new universe... Or, they could continue on in a series that hasn't been built upon for a while (as mentioned earlier, "Killer Instinct").

.... I don't want to see a Killer Instinct what should have been in a Viva Pinata slot.

I really wish adorable animals and things like that were more liked than stupid fighting and shoot em' ups and FPS, those games are the most terrible games of all!

It was just an example. I don't know what Rare will being doing next. I don't think that anything has been confirmed.

As I've said before (numerous times), they do not want to make another right now. They spent six years working on the first and the second, and they are still continuing on in the PVC category. They are interesting in creating a new game in another series, or maybe a new game altogether. Don't count on there being an expansion pack or a new VP game right away, but maybe in the future... ;)

I hope there is a new game, though I've heard that they were satisfied enough with VPTIP to not want to make another game.

If there is a new game I'll have to wave goodbye to going outside (except for virtually in my garden).

It'd be good to see a new VP on the 3DS or Kinect, or just a new VP. Either way. ;)
