Put 2 candaries in there too with gas masks on. That might help.

The wiki has level availability information on all the shop pages.
See What level do you unlock the mine? (http://pinataisland.info/index.php?title=Willy_Builder#Special_Buildings)

Lanterns only make coins more valuable. They don't help with production in the mine. From what I can tell, candary don't help either.
How many items are you getting from the mine per day? If it's less than 8, I would make sure the miners are happy and make sure the mine is located near town or near your helper house. Also, when the miners get up in the morning, direct them to the mine so they're not wandering around the garden wasting time.

In my third garden, it took me way too long to get a dragonache egg. It was a bird garden, so it had lots of big trees in the middle of it that I spent some time maintaining. After planting the first set of trees, I had the mine built pretty much right away. I fully fertilized two oak trees, two fir trees, a gem tree and a banana tree, master romanced several kinds of birds, got my candaries going into the mine, started paying the diggerlings a little extra, put a few lanterns out, put some more lanterns out, put SOME MORE lanterns out (anymore, I usually just surround the mine with about 2 dozen of them for no real reason - could it affect mine treasures, too, or is that just happiness?) My oak trees got old and their leaves turned brown, so I replanted them, as well as the fir trees, and right around the time the second set of oak trees started to get brown, I FINALLY got my dragonache egg. Does that make it about 2 game months? I took down the mine and built my eaglair house in the same spot.
It's actually a pretty cool garden, the only one I've ever designed with exactly zero grass.

How long (game days) does it take for your mine to start producing. I have the diggerlings house right nect to the mine and several lanterns around the mine. I also have 2 diggerlings. It has been 2 game days and all that has come out is a seed...a single seed.
I dont have deep water near the mine. It is also well away from the garden border.
The only pinatas in that garden are the whirlms and a profitamole.
Any help will be much appreciated!

It is pretty much random for when it produces, have Candaries with gas-masks on in your garden and they go in and get jewels.

Well, wasnt expecting a Dragonache...just more than a seed hehe =) (wouldnt complain if an egg pops out though)
I will try to be more patient (not my strong suit...)
I will also put a couple of Candaries in the garden. =)

It should start producing pretty much the first day if you are on top of things. The way that seems to optimize mine output for me is to get 4 diggerlings, and pay them extra occasionally to keep their happiness meter full. Build a helper house right next to it with the doors facing each other, and on the first night, make sure the diggerlings actually go into it (thereafter, they shouldn't have a problem). I usually keep several lanterns (10 to 20?) around mostly as a superstition, although I'm sure several fewer would do just as well, and I've heard they just make the coins that come out worth more. I also put gas masks on any candaries I happen upon while the mine is going, up to one candary per diggerling.
If you do all that, and occasionally remind your diggerlings of where to go in the morning, you should get 6 to 8 of something every game day (although half of the "something"s might be dirt, and most of the rest might still be seeds of funny sizes).

The piles of dirt are worthless by-products of the mine, and contain no valuables.
Read this thread and/or the wiki's mine article for more information, including tips on how to improve production.

Things to try:
1. Get a Helper House for your Miners, and make sure that it is close to the mine.
2. Keep your Miners happy, pay them! Select one of your miners, enter the menu, click on the green hand, and give them a few CCs. Repeat for all your workers
3. Get a Candary, and give it a gas mask. Then, send it into the mine.
4. be patient. Even if you can't get a Dragonache, the Mine can give you a lot of other good things.

How to get a dragonache egg in less than 5 in-game days:
1. Get a mine! (obviously)
2. hire 4 diggerlings
3. build a helper house right next to the mine (don't worry, they're not expensive)
4. Put gas masks on atleast 2 candaries
5. leave a bit of a gap around the whole mine...don't have anything around it!
I have done this in all 5 of my gardens and in each one, i got a dragonache in either 3 or 4 in-game days...try doing all the things on the list, and you should find a dragonache lickety-split!
