BarkBark..?

So I'm level 5, 39.25 and just had the ruffian/barkbark tutorial. Now I'm reading I won't see barkbarks til level 14?? Argh!? I have to deal with ruffians until then?
I just FINALLY had a chippopotamus become a resident, and another looks interested, so I had Willy build them a house, but other than my flutterscotch collection, I don't have many interesting pinatas..I have a blue lickatoad, a red sherbat, a buzzenge, a red jameleon, 4 arocknids(2 variant), and the occasional mothdrop or whirlm.
What else can I get that might start a ball rolling?

Well there's another way to get the Barkbark. If the DS says its your birthday, Pinata Central may bring you a birthday cake that has inside it either a Barkbark egg or Kittyfloss egg. Mine was a Kittyfloss.

Ah, I don't think there is a level 14 in PP. You buy a Barkbark from Gretchem Fetchem's.

Barbark are for sale very soon in the game, level 14 must have been from the First game, not from the DS game, after all there is only 10 level in the ds game! You can buy Barbark from the petshop.

You also need to put a collar to your Barbark so he protect your garden
There is also the captain cutlass that protect your garden, sold in the Ivor Bargain
