Watercress plant? o.o

I have a pond in my garden (11% of the area) and every time I try to grow a watercress plant in it, it says there isn't enough space for it to grow. I've tried planting the seed everywhere in the water. And I think 11% is enough space. Isn't it? What do i need to do to make it grow? <_<

Make sure there's enough room below and to the right of where you planted the seed. It kind of grows diagonally... like this:

So if you have anything in the way, whether it's another plant or there's just no room, it won't be able to fully grow.
