this is so annoying, i LOVE the game
but...
i played on it yesterday the day it came out for about 4 hours, i get off and come back on the day after it won't let me go on because its said "you're game save is unreadable or invalid and can be deleted from the xbox dashboard"
WTFFFF? so i start a new one after a while of playing that one i go offline then back online and guess what?
"you're game save is unreadable or invalid and can be deleted from the xbox dashboard"
basically i wasted hours of my life playing on this game.
what a load of rubbish
does anyone know how to stop this?

As mentioned in the other save game thread, you have to be really careful not to switch off your console whilst it's auto-saving. I'd always exit out to the frontend first. The VP:TiP gardens are big saves so they take a good while (unfortunately).

I've heard of this before, it may not be kall5ter's fault. I now see that it's been discussed before on this forum. I have heard about it on other forums as well. Did the latest patch fix this?

BTW, you can't say you've wasted hours of your life. You played it to enjoy it and you said yourself that you loved it.

that's why I always pause and go on save and continue, then pause it again straight after it's saved and turn it off

yeah but even if i did turn it off while it was saving it should STILL load from the last saving point
i think its got something to do with going online....

but it might not because it corrupts data i have done it loads of times on other games aswell

so basically i've turned it off TWICE while its been autosaving?
i don't think so.... lol
but how come when u go online u have no option but to save AND quit? do u think thats whats wrong?
i deleted viva pinata off my xbox and started again hopefully it won't do it again
if it does then i'm taking the game back and getting something else.

press start, save & exit and the problem should be solved.
i would never ever turn off the xbox without exiting the game first

No. There's only one save file, and the last save is being overwritten by the save in progress, so when you turn it off while it's saving, you've got a save that's part-new, part-old, at worst.

This is why the game says the save is invalid.

that's why I always pause and go on save and continue, then pause it again straight after it's saved and turn it off

I wouldn't recommend doing that either. Try using the save and exit option, instead of save and continue.

Exactly. Always exit the game first, then power off.

When I was playing, the game freezed on me. When I came back, the file was unreadable. I'm not sure if this might have been your problem. Otherwise, like someone else said, try getting the game update. Also, before starting a new game, make sure you deleted your old files. I deleted my corrupted one and started a new one, I also updated the game. I haven't had anymore trouble.

I looks like lots of people's game settings data is corrupting and not just the garden save. So when it corrupts, they have to delete all progress they have made, not just the garden.

What if the game settings data is deleted from the dashboard but not the gardens?

That won't work. The new garden profile would have no link to the old gardens.

If you do anything with your Xbox while it is saving, it will corrupt your save. If you hit your guide button, signout of Xbox live or anything.

When your in a game and want out, hit the red X and wait 30 seconds until your back at the main screen. THEN do whatever.

Ive lost 2 gardens, just hit the save red X and walk away for a minute.

I can only continue to apologise for this matter. I'll be looking into it later today to see if I can dig up any further advice/solutions.
