The current schedule has VP: TIP (from Microsoft Game Studios) launching in these territories on these dates:
United States: September 2nd
UK & Europe: September 5th

Then VP: TIP begins to filter through to the rest of the world soon after the 11th

I have received official confirmation that the release date in the US is still September 2. The dates are wrong on Xbox.com and hopefully will corrected soon.

FYI people, in case you might not know, 95% of retailers will be selling TIP in stores Wednesday the 3rd.

2nd is the release date(overnight mail to stores)

Some stores that receive it early that same day usually put it on their shelves.

Point: You might be better off taking off work Wednesday, not Tuesday. lol

your right!!! Everytime I pre-order a game I go to pick it up on its release date and they say "oh we are going to put it up on shelves tomorrow." ERGGG :(:(:(

In all seriousness, a lot of these are actually our Testers. Before we do a final production run on a game we do a batch of what we call "green discs", which are then played on retail consoles to check there are no abnormalities from the printing run. A lot of those initial scores will have come from that.

As other people have mentioned, today is the game that the game is shipping to stores (especially with yesterday being a U.S. holiday). Most stores probably won't have it for sale until late tomorrow.

Yeah, no Gamestops got it today (and I'll assume other stores) cause the 2nd is the ship date, so my store HOPES to get it tomorrow. The bad thing is, sometimes because of holidays shipping is delayed so it might not be till Thursday! Sad face!!

Yup, yup. Must have had something to do with the shipping holiday on Monday. Though when I went to my Gamestop, the employee kept hassling me to put money down on the game even after I said no twice...

Then I just walked out of the store while he asked me a third time and said "Well we're probably only getting like one or two copies in" and yet, he still didn't get it that Gamestop was my second choice for a store... Ugh. And if, somehow, they do run out tommorow, I'll just order it off Amazon when it gets in stock on Thursday.

I see a lot of people Confused/Upset/Surprised that VPTIP isn't in stores yet. I also see some of you believing it is because of the Past holiday.

As i have said on this thread as well as others. Every Tuesday certain games are RELEASED (to retailers), its usually the next day to 3 days till the store has it on its shelves (Street).

There are 2 types of Dates, Release Dates and Street Dates. Here are some Dates for TIP:

Gamestop/EBGames: SD=09.03.08
Toys R Us SD=09.03.08 or 09.04.08
Circuitcity: SD= 09.04.08
Best Buy: SD= 09.04.08 or 09.05.08
Game Crazy: SD= 09.05.08

There are a few exceptions when the street and Release are the same or rather, consumers get it mixed up. Like on Halo3 day or GTA4 day, there is only 1 date, and that's the date on the shelf.

Just to let everyone know VP:PP for the DS, same as this week, expect to get it between the 9th and 11th, not the 8th.

This is my last attempt to try and educate some of you who aren't familiar with retail/gaming terminology. (The same folks who think a game going gold means its sold over 1million copies)

With gamestop the ship date was TODAY. Not the shelf date. As PINATAcast said. If you went to the store and are angry, I know P-cast mentioned this MULTIPLE times. Ship and shelf are not the same. Very rarely are games announced with the date you can get it (Final Fantasy XII was one, and apparently Halo 3 and GTA IV). Not to be redundant. But P-cast knows the retail business of games from what I can tell, listen to him.
If you pre-ordered at Gamestop, you would get a call the day before it's in, no sooner. And if you call someone at the store, they can tell you a specific time that you could pick up (ie. after noon or something similar).

Surprisingly, my Gamestop only got five (5) copies in. Yes, you read that correctly. And all five were preordered, thus me not getting it. And Wal-Mart seems to not even know of the game, considering their own website doesn't even have it listed.

So my order from Amazon shall arrive Friday, sadly, I leave for the weekend on Thursday and can't play it at all...

SuperTongue, when I picked my copy up, I saw that probably less than ten had arrived. I think the overnight shipping thing gamestop does might only consider pre-orders, if not a minimal amount of games in addition for the shelf. Other games that arrived were like that too, very few copies.

Since you unfortunately witnessed that as well, I think this tells me that if I want a game on release day, to pre-order. I think Gamestop only makes you put 5 dollars down or something to reserve. Not sure, all of the pre-orders I've done online with in-store pick up.

When I went there the man in front of me in line was picking up his preorder for something else and the preorder bonus that was supposed to come with it (a beanie or something) had run out before he got it (but he didn't really care).
